Video Journaling - The Accidental Hobby My Shoulder Gave Me
During this time of recovery, I tried something new - a Video Diary/Journal. Basically, I have a broken shoulder, so I can't write or type. So, I decided to record my thoughts instead. I bought a tripod to record my videos - raw and unfiltered.
I faced a couple of problems:
- Audio was not at all clear - background noise and some weird hissing sound. I even used my external mic from JBL but still, nothing. Must plan on using an AI background noise remover - Adobe Podcast.
- The video sizes are very large - I use a Samsung S23 Ultra, and I've tried changing multiple options including the front camera, but for like a 10 min video, the size becomes like 700MB to 1GB. Need to look into this because we can't have unlimited space.
Pros:
- It's raw and it captures my emotions.
- A 5 to 7 min video feels quick and crisp - way faster than writing a blog post on the same topic.
- It's quick and easy - I don't have to log in to my account to write the blog. Just turn on the camera from the lock screen. Simple, fast n easy!
Cons:
- Takes a lot of space - storage is definitely an issue if you record regularly.
- If you wanna share something personal, it's gonna be a li'l difficult - people can hear you while recording, whereas in a blog, you can just type quietly.
- Editing overhead in case of too much background noise.
These were my few observations, and I'm thinking of a way to combine both methods. If you folks have any suggestions, please feel free to write me at hi@pravw.in
