Welcome to my new corner of the web.
This is my first post on my blog - pravw.in!
The website is almost ready! At least now it is in a readable format. It took me about one week to ten days to set this up. It had been a long time I've been thinking about blogging in a minimalist way. I actually had a WordPress instance which I hosted, but it was affected by a malware attack (recent cPanel vulnerability) but I also wanted something very minimal so I explored platforms like Mataroa, MicroBlog, Bearblog, etc.. all of these platforms were amazing, especially the Bearblog and MicroBlog - I really liked them but I wanted to host my own instance, so I looked into hosting Bearblog. I checked whether it was open source and whether the code was available to self-host, but unfortunately I found out that BearBlog cannot be self-hosted in a way that I was intending to.
While researching further, I came across PureBlog. I saw PureBlog's blog roll. All those minimal designs of different writers, I appreciate how PureBlog is built and the thought process that went behind it. Even my current blog design is inspired by Kev Quirk's blog design. I tried to study his design and everything. It really resonated with me [1][2].
I think I'm going to stick with this design for now because it feels sufficient for once. I usually keep iterating and never settle but this is the first time in a while that I've felt the design is quiet sufficient. I am thinking of modifying it a little bit, but not too much from this point.
I want to be upfront that this is my first time going social in a very very long time. I haven't been on social media (nor posted anything publicly) for very long - I am an early Gen-Z and I think I lean more like a millennial. I was on social media (Facebook & Instagram) about seven to eight years ago but after I got into cybersecurity, I stepped away completely from social media. Fediverse is fairly new to me, this is my first time using it. Currently, I'm on Mastodon and Bluesky (I understand that Bluesky isn't really a Fediverse as it doesn't use ActivityPub protocol). I really like the concept though and I'd like to learn more about the Fediverse. This is a really interesting topic for me. My go-to platforms for doom-scrolling are LinkedIn, YouTube and Reddit (but after this post, I believe I will add Mastodon and Bluesky to this list)
I am also new to public blogging. The WordPress site I mentioned above was more private-ish - nobody could see it. It felt like a diary or journal of my daily thoughts, but this will be more public-facing and I intend to keep posting. For now, I have promised myself at least 3 posts per month. If you have any ideas for what I should be writing about, please let me know. If you want to reach out to me, you can please check the contact page.
Feel free to explore my pesonal blog. You can also visit my About page and Contact page. If you have thoughts or feedback, I'd be glad to hear them.
