Birthday post

Post is here like I promised!

Family & Fun

It was my B'day yesterday. Family is here. Good day altogether. Chuckles, smiles, squabbles, etc.. this time I said no presents, but they ended up giving money.. LOL! We had been to a nice restaurant for dinner - good food, good time!

The B'day resolution(s)

  1. Read fiction
  2. Hangout with friends more
  3. Bike rides and other adventures - don't wait for anyone.. #JustGo
  4. Own my decisions

The personal angle

If you see my resolutions, it all aligns on the personal wellbeing side of it. Too much time on laptop, no time for hobby or other activities. I always keep myself occupied with technology - always with my laptops whether it be office or personal laptop or I am busy with my phone. My ultimate goal of life won't change but not at the cost of sacrificing or compromising physical or mental health. It's okay if progress is slow, as long as I'm still moving forward. I resonate strongly with these words and it's also one of my life's mottos:

If you can't fly, run. If you can't run, walk. If you can't walk, crawl, but don't stop moving towards your goal.

-- Dr. Martin Luther King

This was my realisation and the last resolution is very important to me - I always step back from making decisions and delegate it to others. Maybe in the back of my mind, I have the fear of people holding me liable for taking a bad decision, but I need to understand, I need to make those mistakes. I need to own them, learn from the mistakes and only then will I be able to be able to progress and become a better person.

Ending notes

I intend to keep my posts, especially the personal ones, very short. But in contrast - the tech side, I will try to cover it as detailed as possible. Infact, I'm thinking of sharing something soon. I was working on n8n (self hosted). I have created RSS feeds workflow - relevant feeds flow to my Telegram Bot. Right now, the setup is on my local machine, running in a Docker container. The problem is that my laptop needs to stay ON all the time to get timely updates, basically act like a server. Hosting it on a cloud server or VPS isn't worth it, so it may end up being just a POC.

I'd love to hear from you! If there is a specific topic you want me to explore, an idea you want to discuss or a book you think I should read, feel free to drop me a line. You know where to find me!
